The Position
Provides first line service to our members, including the opening of deposit accounts, transaction services, maintenance functions, and other services desired by the membership.
Principal Responsibilities
-Address member inquiries about credit union services and about their accounts (in person, telephone, mail, or email).
-Handle establishment of new memberships, opening accounts, and processing account changes.
-Process transaction requests including share withdrawals, share deposits, loan payments and account transfers.
-Assist members with wire requests, account research, checking reconciliations, and/or errors in transactions.
-Cross-sell credit union products and services.
-Perform account maintenance as authorized.
-Manage data entry of certain account transactions into accounting system.
-Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
-Minimum of an undergraduate degree and 3-5 years related professional experience or 5+ years of direct experience in client/member service work in a bank, credit union, or other financial institution.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
-Excellent social skills – ability to work effectively in varied professional, socio-economic and cultural contexts.
-Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
-Ability to learn new systems quickly.
-A self-starter able to successfully multi-task and work independently.
-Sensitivity to issues of low-wealth borrowers and communities, and a desire to work in a racially and socially diverse organization. Sincere commitment to teamwork and an interest in the development of colleagues, both important Self-Help values.
-Willingness to work additional hours when necessary to execute daily responsibilities and perform other assigned duties.
Physical Requirements
Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or finger. Must be able to occasionally lift and exert force of up to 10 pounds.
