Retail Operations Supervisor
The Position
Self-Help operates full-service retail credit union branches that provide responsible consumer financial products and loan services to North Carolina communities. The Retail Operations Supervisor will report to the Operations Team Leader and will be responsible for hands-on management of the retail credit union operations. This position will work closely with Retail Branch Managers; accounting, finance, and operations management and staff; internal auditors, and other Self-Help staff to ensure a high level of effectiveness, accuracy, and customer service in retail operations. The Retail Operations Supervisor is responsible for continuously developing and enhancing his or her group’s procedures and processes.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee the performance of up to 3 retail operations personnel, one of whom works remotely.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all functions performed by retail operations personnel such that he or she can provide coverage and back-up, as needed.
- Manage timely, effective, and accurate transaction processing for all products and services offered by the credit union: checks, ACH, ATM/debit cards, and credit cards.
- Ensure batch processes and end-of-period system functions are executed effectively.
- Develop, design, and generate internal reports and management reports.
- Provide trouble-shooting, issue resolution, and decision-making expertise.
- Interface, as needed, and manage data exchange with third-party vendors, including, but not limited to: statement files, monthly credit report files, CUNA credit life files.
- Remain up-to-date on all rules and regulations governing retail operations.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree and 3-5 years related professional experience, which could include: direct operations work in a bank, credit union, or other financial institution.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, Outlook
- Excellent social skills – ability to work effectively in varied professional, socio-economic and cultural contexts.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly. A self-starter able to successfully multi-task, work independently, and be effective behind the scenes.
- Sensitivity to issues of low-wealth borrowers and communities, and a desire to work in a racially and socially diverse organization. Sincere commitment to teamwork and an interest in the development of colleagues, both important Self-Help values.
- Willingness to work additional hours when necessary to execute daily responsibilities and perform other assigned duties.
