Self-Help Credit Union (SHCU) is a North Carolina chartered, federally insured, member-owned institution. In 1984 SHCU was created as an affiliate of Self-Help, a community development lender, making home loans and commercial loans, developing affordable housing and commercial real estate and creating ownership and economic opportunity for communities left out of the economic mainstream.
