Register on Prosper

Before you take the steps below,  you should already have accomplished the following:

1. Talked with CCCSSF and been referred to Self-Help for the Payday Loan Escape program.
   

What to Expect:

Before registering on Prosper, you should acquaint yourself with the Prosper platform using Prosper’s helpful tutorials.  We especially recommend Prosper's borrower tutorial to learn more about borrowing on Prosper.

Required Information:

In order to register on Prosper, you'll need the following information:

• Email Address
• Social Security Number
• Checking Account Number
• Checking Account Routing Number (on your check)
• Driver’s License Number

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

First, you will need to become a Prosper member:

1. Go to Prosper's registration form and enter the requested information.  Be sure to write down your screen name and remember your password.
   
2. Prosper will send an email to the address you entered.  You will need to open the email and reply as requested in order for your membership to be activated.  Note that sometimes the Prosper email will get caught in a spam filter.  Follow Prosper's instructions on preventing this if you do not receive an email from Prosper.
   
3. You are now registered on Prosper.  You will be directed to a separate page that says “Congratulations! Your membership is complete.”

1. Sign in to Prosper using your email and password.
2. The next screen will ask you what you would like to do.  Click on “Borrow Money.”
3. Identity information: Complete the information requested.
4. Confirm information:  Double-check the information to make sure it is correct.
5. Identity verification:  If your identity is verified over the computer, you will receive a message.  If Prosper needs to do a manual identity verification, follow the instructions they provide on sending information by fax.
6. Credit Profile:  Prosper will run a credit check to determine whether or not you can borrow on Prosper. This credit check will not affect your credit score.  If you are eligible to borrow on Prosper, you will receive a credit grade. Remember your credit grade. If you are not eligible to borrow on Prosper, you are not eligible for Self-Help's Payday Loan Escape program.  We sincerely apologize that we cannot assist you.
   
7. If you are eligible to borrow on Prosper and would like to take the next step to participate in the Payday Loan Escape program, please sign and fax or send a Borrowers Agreement and Release of Information form to Self-Help (fax and address included on form).
8. Finally, call CCCSSF at 800.777.7526 (PLAN) to schedule an appointment.  CCCSSF will help you decide whether the Payday Loan Escape program is a good solution for you.
