Create your loan listing

Before you take the steps below, you should already have accomplished the following:

1. Received approval to borrow on Prosper.
2. Faxed or sent your Borrower Agreement and Release of Information Form to Self-Help.
3. Met with CCCSSF and completed the CCCSSF Client Worksheet during that meeting.

About loan listings on Prosper:

Your loan listing is what inspires lenders to bid against each other to make a loan that you can use to refinance your payday loans.

Your goal is to create a listing that attracts potential lenders while addressing concerns they might have about your credit history and/or your ability to repay the loan.

Before you begin:

Spend time on Prosper's website to acquaint yourself with loan listings.  We recommend that you watch Prosper's loan listing tutorial.  It's very helpful. 

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

First, you will need to subscribe to the Self-Help group:

1. Log-in to Prosper and search for "Payday Loan Escape" under the Community tab.
2. Go to our group home page and click "Join this group."
   
3. Complete the Group Membership Request.  When you submit your request, it will be sent to Self-Help.
4. We will review your request and accept you within 3 business days.  Do not proceed to the next step until you have been contacted by Self-Help that you have been accepted into the group.
   

Next, create your loan listing:

1. When you are ready to create your listing, log on to Prosper.  Click on "Create a loan listing."
   
2. Create your loan listing.  Follow the instructions on Prosper and the Self-Help Loan Listing Guidelines to create your listing. We will review each loan listing before accepting it into the group. If your listing does not meet the guidelines, then we will send it back to you with suggested edits or comments.  Be sure to keep an extra copy of the text you create in a separate document.
3. Before you submit your loan listing, be sure to read the information provided by Prosper concerning the fees you are paying, the cost of the loan, and the terms and conditions as well as legal agreements and Truth in Lending Disclosure statements.
   
4. Once you click on “Create Listing,” your listing will be submitted to the Self-Help group for review.
5. Self-Help reviews your listing and will respond as quickly as possible, generally within 3 business days. Once we approve your listing, it will go up on the Prosper site and lenders will be able to bid on your loan. If it is not approved, we will contact you to explain why and suggest necessary changes.  If you choose not to make the suggested changes, Self-Help may refuse to accept your loan listing.
   
6. You may want to have friends or colleagues endorse you, as this provides potential lenders with more information about you and your ability to repay the loan.  See Prosper's website for information on endorsements.
