Self-Help Staffers DeWitt and Medlock Named to Who's Who in Black Charlotte

[Charlotte, NC| October 30, 2024] — Self-Help is proud to announce Tracie DeWitt, Self-Help's Director of Mortgage Credit Administration, and Sonjinika Y. Medlock, Branch Manager in Salisbury, NC, have been welcomed into the prestigious, Who’s Who in Black Charlotte. The recognition will take place on November 1 at the Westin Charlotte Hotel, 601 South College Street from 6-9 pm.

Each will be featured in the upcoming ninth edition of the publication, which celebrates the achievements of Black professionals in the Charlotte metro-area - providing inspiration for future generations. Who’s Who in Black Charlotte is one of 10 publications that recognize and highlight the achievements of African Americans in various cities across the United States.  

Sonjinika has over 20 years of experience in banking, with a remarkable career that spans leadership roles in corporate, merchant, and retail banking. She made history as the first Black woman appointed as Branch Manager at Navy Federal Credit Union in Italy and now continues to lead with purpose at Self-Help in Salisbury, NC. Sonjinika’s resilience and dedication to community engagement and empowering others are core to her legacy.

Tracie brings 25 years of expertise in mortgage lending, providing strategic oversight that shapes Self-Help’s lending environment. Beyond her work at Self-Help, she contributes to the housing initiatives of Prosperity Unlimited and enjoys family time, learning Chinese, and all things Disney. Her inspiring motto: "Some people want to see you fail. Disappoint them."

Reflecting on the achievement, Medlock said, “I am grateful to have been recognized. It is a testament to the journey and dedication that has fueled my passion to help others.”
