Self-Help's Donnetta Collier had the honor of introducing Vice President Kamala Harris at an EPA event in Charlotte, NC.
In 2024, Self-Help teamed up with two other experienced non-profit organizations to create Climate United.
Climate United is a national public-private investment fund removing financial barriers to clean energy projects, so that every American benefits from good-paying jobs, lower energy bills, domestic manufacturing, and cleaner air.
Through a competitive grant process, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded Climate United a $6.97 billion award through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund in 2024. Self-Help Climate Capital was allocated $2.25 billion of the award to stand up a nationwide program in partnership with other lenders to make it easier for families to afford solar panels, electric vehicles, and energy efficient homes and upgrades.
Funding from the EPA’s grant program is currently frozen and pending litigation. Self-Help continues our work to expand access to clean energy, and we stand ready to deploy this source of capital should it become available.
And we remain committed to ensuring it is an equitable one.
