Insured Deposits
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is the credit union equivalent of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Just like the FDIC, the NCUA provides automatic insurance coverage for depositors. Since the creation of NCUA in 1970, credit union members have not lost a single penny of insured deposits.
Financial strength
We’ve provided safe, stable and reliable financial services for more than 40 years. We are fiscally prudent and maintain high capital levels. Because of our financial strength, we stand ready to accept additional deposits from our members. Our term certificates offer rates that are above industry averages and are a great choice if you're looking for a safe and reliable place to deposit funds.
Net worth is the reserves a financial institution holds to protect its depositors from potential losses. Self-Help is currently in the 99th percentile for net worth compared to other credit unions. That means we have more net worth than the vast majority of credit unions in the country.
We maintain a high cash-to-deposits ratio to ensure that we always have the liquidity to provide members with their deposits on demand, even if withdrawal demand rises unexpectedly. Our cash-to-deposits ratio is typically above 15%, well above the industry average of 7%.
