Investment options

Loans & program-related investments

Capital in the form of long-term, low-interest loans and program-related investments (PRIs) help drive our mission, including investments in specialized programs that require more flexible or subsidized support. Self-Help Ventures Fund seeks loans over $2 million.

Tax credit equity investments

Self-Help Ventures Fund also raises tax credit equity to support community projects through various tax programs, including Historic Tax Credits, New Markets Tax Credits, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Investments Tax Credits.

About Self-Help Ventures Fund

The Ventures Fund is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) loan fund capitalized with loans and investments from foundations, banks, corporations, government sources and others. 

As an unregulated financial institution, Self-Help Ventures Fund (SHVF) manages flexible, often subsidized commercial lending programs like the New Market Tax Credit program, Bond Guarantee Program and Affordable Housing Loan Funds that are responsive to local needs. 

SHVF also houses Self-Help's commercial real estate and affordable housing development work, flexible secondary market loan purchasing programs and secondary capital investments in Self-Help's credit unions.
