Self-Help's affordable housing loan funds provide financing for developers to acquire, refinance, create, rehabilitate and preserve affordable multifamily housing in targeted areas.

Chapel Hill Affordable Housing Loan Fund

  • For existing properties or land to develop affordable housing
  • Can be used to acquire, refinance, create, rehabilitate or preserve housing
  • Advantageous bridge or mezzanine financing
  • Properties must be in Chapel Hill, NC or its extraterritorial jurisdiction

Durham Affordable Housing Loan Fund

  • For existing properties or land to develop affordable housing
  • Available for multifamily
  • For nonprofit developers and housing authorities (or for-profit entities partnering with them)
  • Project must be in the city of Durham, NC

Greensboro Housing Fund

  • For existing properties or land to develop affordable housing
  • Permanent gap financing 
  • Can be used to acquire, refinance, create, rehabilitate or preserve housing
  • Projects must be in Greensboro, NC

Wake Affordable Housing Preservation Fund

  • For preservation of existing affordable housing
  • Can be used to acquire, refinance, rehabilitate or preserve existing housing
  • Advantageous bridge or mezzanine financing
  • Projects must be in Wake County, NC

Western North Carolina Affordable Housing Loan Fund

  • For existing properties or land to develop affordable housing
  • Can be used to acquire, refinance, create, rehabilitate or preserve housing
  • Advantageous bridge or mezzanine financing
  • Projects must be in Western North Carolina

Jacksonville Growth & Affordability Partnership Fund

Eligible projects: 

  • Existing properties or land to develop affordable housing New construction or rehabilitation 
  • Project scope must include creating or preserving affordable units for rent
