2024 Annual Report
Members of Self-Help’s leadership join for the ribbon cutting for our Beacon Point branch in Raleigh, N.C.
Our newest Self-Help Credit Union branch in Raleigh, N.C., is part of something much bigger. The Beacon Point branch is located within the larger Beacon Point Site, a Purpose Built Community in Southeast Raleigh, an historically Black community in North Carolina’s capital.
Self-Help's Real Estate Team led the development of a portion of Beacon Point in close partnership with two local organizations, Southeast Raleigh Promise, and the YMCA of the Triangle. This collaboration enriched the group’s efforts to meet community needs through this development: much of the project, most notably tenant leasing, was guided by feedback from members of the Southeast Raleigh community.
In addition to the businesses and services at Beacon Point, the site includes a YMCA branch, a public elementary school, and Beacon Ridge, which offers high-quality affordable housing. And the cherry on top is literally on top: rooftops across the site feature solar panels, which will make electricity prices more affordable and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Self-Help carefully selects branch locations in communities where their services can have the greatest impact. We’re excited to have a home in Southeast Raleigh, an historically Black community in North Carolina’s capital.
