Lease Signing Ceremony Tuesday, 3pm March 14 between Renaissance Community Co-op and Self-Help Mar 10, 2016 Media Advisory Greensboro – Renaissance Community Cooperative (RCC) and nonprofit community developer Self-Help Ventures Fund (an affiliate of Self-Help Credit Union) are hosting a public lease signing ceremony at 3 pm Tuesday, March 14 at Renaissance Shops at 2582 Phillips Avenue. RCC will be the anchor tenant at the redeveloped shopping center, agreeing to a five year lease for a 10,530 square feet space. Interior build out will begin immediately following execution of the lease, with on-site construction expected to be completed in August in anticipation of RCC opening this fall. The signing ceremony will take place inside the future space. Self-Help’s Kim Cameron and RCC Board Chair John Jones will sign lease. Renaissance Shops Community Advisory Committee and RCC members will be in attendance. As part of the shopping center redevelopment process an advisory committee composed of 19 community members has worked to ensure recognition of the Renaissance Shops’ history and redevelopment plans are in sync with the community’s desired outcomes. RCC will be locally owned and operated and the first grocery store in the immediate neighborhood in over 20 years. Friendly Pharmacy has signed a letter of intent to lease space and the Greensboro Federal Municipal Credit Union board voted to expand to Renaissance Shops, with a move expected in 2017. Self-Help acquired the site from the City of Greensboro in January, 2015. Self-Help owns and has developed 20 commercial properties across North Carolina, including the Self-Help Center and Revolution Mill in Greensboro. In addition, Self-Help Credit Union has a branch at 3400 Battleground Ave. # # # About Self-Help Credit Union Self-Help is a community development lender headquartered in Durham, NC.
